01 The Problem

A fab's wastewater system handles aggressive chemistry — acids, solvents, photoresist residue — moving through 10-to-20-inch curved pipes and irregular tanks. If the waste stream falls outside its temperature window, the downstream treatment chemistry breaks down, and you end up with either contaminated effluent or a regulatory citation. Round cylindrical probes can't sit flush on curved tank walls; they fall off or read wrong.

The Risk

Fab wastewater tanks and large pipes (10"–20" diameter) have curved, irregular surfaces — conventional cylindrical probes cannot conform.

Detection Gap

Temperature deviation in waste streams affects downstream treatment quality and EPA compliance.

02 The OctosX Solution

We deploy Thermalpas TCS1100-G2 — a tube-shaped sensor designed specifically for curved pipes and tanks. Three times the thermal conductivity of a standard probe, double insulation for chemical resistance, IP68 housing, –30°C to 120°C range. OctosX maps the entire wastewater system as a real-time temperature visualization and recommends maintenance before chemistry drifts.

Sensor & Edge

Thermalpas TCS1100-G2 (cylindrical / pipe-mount type), 1.5 W/mK thermal conductivity (3× standard), chemical-resistant double insulation, IP68, –30~120°C.

Cloud Logic & Alerting

OctosX Cloud provides "Tank/Pipe Heat Map" + predictive maintenance recommendations.

03 The Outcome

After the Nanjing rollout, TSMC added TCS1100-G2 to its global fab standard equipment list. The same sensor is now deployed at TSMC's Hsinchu fabs, the Central Taiwan Science Park sites, and the Arizona Fab 21. One successful pilot turned into a global standard.

Field Detection

Following Nanjing rollout, TSMC added TCS1100-G2 to its global fab standard equipment list — subsequent deployments in Hsinchu, Central Taiwan Science Park, and Arizona Fab 21.
