Pricing Methodology

How We Price OctosX

Industrial deployments aren't off-the-shelf — and neither is our pricing. Every OctosX engagement is configured to the plant: the equipment monitored, the data integrated, the people supported. This page explains the three components of that configuration.

The Three Components

What goes into every OctosX engagement.

Three layers, each configured to your plant. Together they form your total deployment cost.

Layer 1 — Initial Setup

One-Time Initial Setup

The work to design your monitoring architecture, install and commission hardware, integrate with your existing systems, and train your team.

What it covers
  • Site survey and sensor placement design
  • IPC and gateway configuration
  • Network integration with your IT/OT infrastructure
  • On-site commissioning and validation
  • Operator and administrator training
How it's calculated

Project scope, number of monitored points, and on-site commissioning days.

What shapes the number

Sensor variety, hazardous area certifications, site accessibility.

Typical magnitude

A single-site setup typically lands in the low to mid five-figure range. Large multi-site rollouts can extend into the low six-figures as engineering and training scale.

Layer 2 — SaaS Subscription

Recurring SaaS Subscription

Annual subscription to the OctosX Risk Intelligence Platform — cloud-hosted, continuously updated, supported.

What it covers
  • Cloud platform access and real-time dashboards
  • Alert and notification engine (email, SMS, dashboard)
  • 5+ years of data retention and audit logs
  • Quarterly software updates and security patches
  • Standard support and incident response
  • SOC 2 / GDPR / PIPEDA-aligned data handling
How it's calculated

Number of monitoring endpoints per site and number of authorized users.

What shapes the number

Site count, endpoint density, alert-escalation paths, and reporting configuration.

Typical magnitude

Priced per monitored endpoint per month — typically tens of dollars per endpoint. Final ARR depends on endpoint count and how many sites are connected to a single account.

Layer 3 — Hardware

Industrial Hardware

Thermalpas thermal sensors, electricity meters, edge computers, and gateways — selected for your equipment, certified for your environment.

What it covers
  • Thermalpas thermal-tracking sensors
  • Electricity meters and current/leakage CT modules
  • Industrial PCs (IPCs) and edge gateways
  • Cabling and mounting accessories
  • Hazardous area / IP-rated variants where required
How it's calculated

Number of monitoring points and sensor types required. Hardware is sold as a one-time capital purchase.

What shapes the number

Sensor mix, environmental requirements (IP rating, hazardous area), redundancy needs, deployment timeline.

Typical magnitude

Per-node hardware spans the low hundreds up to the low four-figure range, depending on sensor type, certification level, and whether the node requires hazardous-area or high-temperature variants. Volume orders trend toward the lower end.

Pricing Modifiers

Factors that shape your final number.

Beyond the three layers, three levers can adjust your total cost — up or down.

Multi-Site Scaling

Per-site cost decreases as deployment scales. Standardized rollouts across multiple facilities benefit from shared engineering effort and volume hardware procurement.

Annual Pre-Payment

Annual pre-payment of the SaaS subscription unlocks a meaningful discount over monthly billing — improving both your TCO and our forecast.

Working with an SI Partner

If you're deploying through one of our authorized System Integrators, they may bundle OctosX pricing into a single integrated contract. Ask them, or ask us for a referral.

Deployment Profiles

How investment scales with deployment.

Three common deployment profiles. Where you start determines where you grow.

Profile 1

Single-Site Pilot

One production line or one critical area, monitored end-to-end. Ideal for proving the value before scaling.

Initial Setup Lower
SaaS Subscription Lower
Hardware Lower
Best for

Plants new to industrial monitoring; risk-averse procurement; first internal champion building the business case.

Year-1 magnitude
Tens of thousandssingle-line or single-area scope

Profile 3

Multi-Plant Enterprise

Standardized deployment across multiple facilities, centrally managed. Best per-site economics.

Initial Setup Higherlowest per-site
SaaS Subscription Highervolume-discounted
Hardware Highervolume-priced
Best for

Enterprise manufacturers; standardized operations; organizations pursuing ESG/risk reporting across portfolio.

Year-1 magnitude
High six to low seven figuresper-site rate drops with scale

Each profile is illustrative. Your actual investment depends on plant complexity, equipment count, and the modifiers above. The fastest way to see your numbers is to request a configured quote. Get my numbers

Scope, Not Prices

Estimate your monitoring scope in 30 seconds.

Count the electrical assets in your plant, and we translate them into an indicative sensing-point range using our standard installation templates. Bring the result into your quote request — it is the first question we would ask anyway.
