Technical Architecture

The OctosX Thermal Intelligence Platform

A full-stack thermal risk intelligence layer — contact sensors on your electrical infrastructure, edge-first data collection, encrypted transport, and dashboards built for both operators and insurers. Engineered to extend as your risk surface grows.

Inside the Platform

What your team will use, every shift.

Twelve dashboards built for the people running the plant — and the people reporting to the boardroom.

How It Works

From sensor to decision in under 50 ms.

Five distinct layers. Each engineered for reliability, security, and the constraints of operational technology networks.

FIELD LAYER Contact Thermal Sensors (UL / IEC 60068) · Switchgear · Busbars · MCCs · Breakers · Distribution Panels Modbus RTU/TCP OPC UA Profinet MELSEC BACnet 4–20 mA / 0–10V EDGE LAYER — Industrial PC (IPC) Local data cache (survives WAN outage) · MQTT broker · Real-time anomaly detection · AES-256 at-rest encryption · OTA updates Local buffering Alert engine (edge) Encrypted storage OTA firmware updates TRANSPORT TLS 1.3 encrypted tunnels · MQTT over WSS · Optional site VPN · No inbound firewall ports required CLOUD — AWS CANADA CENTRAL (ca-central-1) Multi-tenant SaaS · Time-series DB · ML anomaly detection · 99.5% SLA · Multi-region failover · SOC 2 (in progress) Canadian data residency Tamper-proof audit logs RBAC + MFA enforced Annual pen testing APPLICATION Real-time dashboards · Alerts · Analytics · Audit logs · Mobile app INTEGRATIONS ERP · MES · BMS · Insurance reporting · ESG reporting · REST API

Edge Intelligence

The IPC runs local alert logic — so your MCC alarm fires in milliseconds even if the WAN connection drops. Local buffering ensures zero data loss during outages up to 72 hours.

Zero Inbound Ports

OctosX uses outbound-only MQTT over TLS 1.3. Your IT team won't need to open firewall inbound rules — eliminating a critical attack surface for OT/IT convergence.

Time-Series at Scale

Cloud ingests at sub-50 ms latency. Industrial-grade time-series storage retains raw sensor data for configurable retention periods — full history for trend analysis and audits.

Security & Compliance

Built for manufacturers who face audits.

Security is architecture, not a feature flag. Every layer of the OctosX stack is designed to meet the compliance requirements your insurers, legal teams, and enterprise customers demand.

SOC 2 Type 1 In progress — 2026 target
GDPR Aligned Data processing agreements available
PIPEDA Compliant Canadian privacy law, day one
AES-256 at Rest All stored data encrypted
TLS 1.3 in Transit All data in motion encrypted
MFA Enforced Platform-wide mandatory 2FA
Tamper-Proof Audit Logs Immutable event trail
RBAC Role-based access control
Annual Pen Testing Third-party security assessment

Scale

Built for one plant. Ready for a hundred.

Start with one production line. Expand to all sites, all utilities, all equipment — on the same platform, under the same contract.

API & Integrations

Open API. Your data flows where you need it.

Every reading collected by OctosX is yours — and reachable from outside the platform. A documented public REST API and event webhooks let your ERP, CMMS, BI tools, ESG reporting platform, or insurance broker's risk engine pull thermal data, subscribe to alerts, and push back maintenance actions in near-real-time.

On the field side, OctosX speaks standard industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, BACnet, Profinet) — no proprietary lock-in, no rip-and-replace.

Public API access

REST API + Webhooks · API key & OAuth 2.0 authentication · Sandbox environment · Developer docs and sample code provided to customers and SI partners.

Field Protocols

Modbus RTU Modbus TCP OPC UA MQTT Profinet MELSEC BACnet 4–20 mA 0–10 V DC

ERP / Business Systems

SAP Oracle MS Dynamics NetSuite REST API Webhooks

What external systems can do via API

GET thermal readings by panel, sensor, or time range
Subscribe to hotspot & threshold-breach webhooks
Push maintenance work orders to your CMMS
Stream events to broker / insurer risk engines
Export NFPA 70B audit logs as JSON or CSV
Embed live thermal dashboards via iframe
Authenticate with API key or OAuth 2.0

Data Residency

Your data stays in Canada. Period.

OctosX runs exclusively on AWS Canada Central region (ca-central-1). No cross-border data transfer without your explicit written consent. Your plant data, your sensor readings, your audit trail — all stored and processed on Canadian soil, under Canadian law.
