Semiconductor wastewater recovery tanks: sensing through a non-metallic FRP wall
Thermalpas sensors bonded to the outer wall of FRP tanks holding tin-plating copper recovery liquid at a semiconductor wastewater facility.
- 2025Installation photographed in February

The problem
A semiconductor wastewater facility needed temperature readings on tanks that hold tin-plating copper recovery liquid. The tanks are fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP): a multi-layer laminate with a vinyl-ester corrosion-resistant layer on the liquid side, a glass-fibre reinforcement layer and a resin outer layer.
What was installed
Thermalpas surface sensors were bonded to the outer FRP wall of each tank and covered with aluminium foil tape, with the lead routed down and fixed along the tank wall. Field photos dated 19 February 2025 show sensors in place on several tanks in the same room. Each reading approximates the outer-wall surface temperature and tracks changes in the liquid temperature inside; it does not measure the liquid directly.
The outcome
The catalogue records the installation, not a result. Why it matters: the sensor sits on the outside of a non-metallic laminate wall, so the tank does not have to be opened or penetrated to follow its temperature trend.
