TECOBAR (Andakon Tech) — Prefab Busway & EV Charging Distribution

In commercial buildings, factories, and EV charging stations, prefab busways have hot spots at tap boxes and plug-in connections.

01 The Problem

In a smart office tower, hospital, or EV charging station, prefab busways run hundreds of meters across the ceiling, dropping power down through plug-in tap boxes wherever it's needed. Each tap is a potential weak point — they get bumped during construction, they loosen with thermal cycling, and the facility team can't easily see inside the busway housing once it's installed.

The Risk

In commercial buildings, factories, and EV charging stations, prefab busways have hot spots at tap boxes and plug-in connections.

Detection Gap

Customers demand real-time health visibility at every junction.

02 The OctosX Solution

We worked with the manufacturer, Andakon (TECOBAR brand), to embed a Thermalpas sensor inside each plug-in unit at the factory. By the time the busway arrives at the construction site, every tap box is already instrumented. The facilities manager opens an OctosX dashboard and sees every tap on every floor, color-coded by thermal health.

Sensor & Edge

Each plug-in unit embeds a Thermalpas sensor.

Cloud Logic & Alerting

OctosX Cloud delivers a "Busway Health Dashboard" per building; property managers see every tap-box status in real time.

03 The Outcome

In one smart building, 50 tap boxes were instrumented for about $200K — less than one round of annual thermal-imaging inspections. In the first year OctosX caught a single overheating socket six months before its scheduled inspection, avoiding what would have been a localized fire on the 14th floor.

Field Detection

Joint go-to-market with TECOBAR for EV charging and smart buildings. Per smart building (50 tap boxes), deployment costs $200,000 — saves $80,000 labor vs.

Quantified Impact

annual IR inspection + identified one overheating socket 6 months earlier.
